Laura Wheeler,  PHR

I have spent over twelve years as a human resources service partner in the employment screening industry.  I started my career as a business owner, founding a screening firm based in Santa Barbara, CA. I later sold it to another firm in the industry.  I strongly believe that screening job candidates keeps workplaces safe and businesses profitable. I am pleased to be able to use my knowledge, experience and unwavering commitment to excellence as an HR Consultant providing strategy in the areas of global talent acquisition, selection and screening. Prior to working in the employment screening industry,  I had managerial roles in accounting and human resources with several companies in the financial services and furniture manufacturing industries.

I earned a BA in Business Economics from the University of California Santa Barbara and an MBA from California State University Northridge. I Chair the Marketing and Social Media Committee for the Santa Barbara Human Resources Association and I am the Co-Chair of the Media Relations Committee for the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS). I have lectured on HR related topics for Lorman Seminars, a company providing continuing education to HR professionals and attorneys, presented at SHRM Affiliated Chapters, and at UCSB.  I have also provided expert witness testimony for litigation support.

When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my son in the mountains or at the beach.
